BIO:

In 1998, with just two years on the decks, Ben Annand was the newest Moontribe resident DJ and started his event series, Tropical. He spent the early years of his career focused internationally including Aca World Sound Fest (Mexico), Shambhala (Canada), Wiggle at Fabric (London), Festimad, Rave Goa (Spain), Labyrinth (Japan), and 13 visits to Club Propaganda in Moscow and all over Russia.

Next, Ben Annand became one of the top North American festival DJs with appearances at Oregon Eclipse, Motion notion (Canada) and was a repeat guest at BPM Festival (Mexico), Lightning in a Bottle, Desert Hearts and Sunset Campout (CA), and Cascadia (WA). Ben played at Burning Man various Fmes from 1999 to 2018.

In February 2020, aYer 23 years on the decks, Ben Annand had fully transitioned from Los Angeles to Maui to Eugene, OR, where he was finally making a living from DJing out of town on weekends. He also started another business helping connect professional event organizers across the U.S. with unique retreat centers and outdoor event spaces., later, in the pandemic, adding mansion and house rentals.

A pandemic is not fun, nor is giving up your hard-earned career in music. Ben played not one gig for 15 months but was fast to adapt, working quickly up the Census ladder to become Field Manager of 400 enumerators and 15 census field supervisors by August. Then one glorious day he was fired and set back free to music, and he began the task of re-organizing his music collection 🙂

But first, Ben needed a place to put it. So in October 2020, Ben flew to Las Vegas to pick up a soundproofed room in 16 panels and drove it back 850 miles to Eugene. The Annand House DJ Lounge was then built in a professional office building downtown, where Ben now works quietly during the day, and loudly at night!

By May 2021 Ben has likely built the most high tech DJ Lounge in Oregon, featuring full Meyer sound, top-line DJ equipment including CDJ 2000s, brand new Technics MK7 turntables, Xone 96 Rotary mixer and an Apollo X4 used for livestreaming and music production.

Ben started playing live gigs again in Portland at the end of June, and has played Eugene, Los Angeles, SeaXle, and Boise since.

In September 2021 Ben resurfaces in San Francisco for the Real Deal Party Feel at the EndUp, and officially launches his venue booking business as Bridge to Paradise – Music Friendly DJ Booking. He goes on tour around Tropical’s 23rd anniversary in October, finishing the month with a 3-night Halloween party in an 18-bedroom mansion in Palm Springs. Ben will visit Area 15 in Las Vegas in November, and hosts Tropical Oasis Retreat Big Island December 15 to 19.

In Winter Ben plans to cool it on Tropical parFes and re-focus on music production in his fabulous Lounge.
